Studies on fepatoscintigram with Radiogold in Primary Carcinoma of the Liver

Abstract
In this study hepatic scanning with colloidal radiogold was carried out in 64 patients of primary carcinoma of the liver confirmed by biopsy.
The cases studied involved the patients who. admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine, Pusan National University Hospital during the period from October 1962 to April 1971. The following results were obtained.
1. The author found cold area on hepatoscintigram in 59 cases(92.2%) of primary carcinoma of the liver, and spleen visualization in 24 cases (37.5% of total cases).
2. The frequency of cold area on hepatoscintigram was one of the most sensitive tests of liver function in the diagnosis of primary carcinoma of the liver. On the other hand, chemical liver
function abnormalities such as B.S.P. retention (84.4%), hypoalbuminemia(76.5%), elevation of serum alkaline phosphatase activity(70.3%), SGOT elevation (70.3%), hyperglobulinemia(53.1%) and T.T.T. abnormal elevation(54.7%) were noted.
3. A close relationship between spleen visualization on hepatoscintigram and chemical liver function
abnormalities such as B. S. P retention, serum colloidal reaction (T. T. T. , serum Takata R. & C.C. F. ). elevation of SGPT, hypoalbuminemia & hyperglobulinemia was noticed.
4. Frequency of cold area on hepatoscintigram was higher than that of hepatomegaly(tumor)on palpation and incidence of spleen visualization on hepatoscintigram was also higher than that of palpable spleen.
